Evelyn Kosanke
Evelyn Kosanke, 86, of Hillsboro, died July 28, 2002, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
Born Oct. 17, 1915, at Rockford, Idaho, she was the daughter of Grover and Enan (Cloud) Coatney. On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Albert D. Kosanke in American Falls, Idaho. He died in 1986.
She moved to Aberdeen, Idaho, when she was three and lived there until moving to Hillsboro in 2000. She graduated from Aberdeen High School.
In 1928 at age 13, she was baptized. and at age 17 she was baptized by immersion.
She wrote for the Aberdeen Times, the Salt Lake Tribune, and edited the News and Notes of the First Mennonite Church. She was a retired postal worker and a member of First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, nine brothers and sisters and two half sisters.
Survivors include a son, David Albert and his wife Cindie Kosanke of Murray, Utah; daughter, Carol and her husband Rev. Ken Peterson of Hillsboro; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A sharing and prayer service was held July 31 at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at First Mennonite Church of Aberdeen, Idaho, with Rev. Ken Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Aberdeen Cemetery in Aberdeen, Idaho.
A memorial fund has been established at First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro.
