Fireworks, fund-raiser is Sunday at lake

Residents and visitors are invited to attend the annual Labor Day fireworks show and events on Sunday at Marion County Park & Lake.

Various activities are being planned at the lake hall and near the lake office to encourage people to support the fire departments within Marion County.

Fire trucks and equipment will be on display during the festivities.

From 2 to 5 p.m. children's games will be provided. A fishing contest will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Contestants must provide their own equipment. Prizes will be awarded.

Donations will be accepted for a meal that will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. The menu will include pulled pork, bratwursts, hot dogs, beans, and chips.

Drawing will be held at 8 p.m. for four prizes — a Henry .22 lever-action rifle; a one-night's stay for two at the Outdoors Inn Bed & Breakfast; a gift package from Signatures that includes a haircut and style, and manicure and pedicure; and some lucky child will win a ride in a fire truck to the fireworks display and be allowed to set off the first round of fireworks.

Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and can be purchased at Marion Auto Supply, 115 E. Main, Marion, or Sunday.

After dusk, a fireworks display will be presented with aerials being launched over the lake.

All proceeds will be distributed among the county fire departments to be used for equipment and other needs.
