Fishing derby is Saturday at county lake
The John Waner Heated Dock Fishing Derby will be from 7 to 11 a.m. March 22 at Marion County Lake.
The crappie fishing derby is in memory of Waner, a former lake superintendent. Proceeds from the derby will go toward new seating at the lake's heated dock.
Trophies will be awarded at noon for the largest (weight) crappie and most inches.
Registration is at 6 a.m. the day of the derby at the lake office. Registration is $20 before March 22 and $25 the day of the event.
Volunteers are needed to assist with creel recorders.
