Flaming, Wheeler to discuss trip to North Korea
Dwight Flaming, a Goessel dairy farmer, and Lee Wheeler, a Hesston agricultural engineer, will share about their experiences of traveling to North Korea for Mennonite Central Committee. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, rural Goessel. A cheese and cracker social will follow the program.
After Flaming and Wheeler helped restore old farm equipment that was later shipped to the North Korean farmers, both men traveled there to help the farms become familiar with the equipment. They conducted a day-long seminar for mechanics and farm managers. They also discussed the correct use and maintenance on a irrigation pump.
During their 10-day trip, Flaming and Wheeler observed firsthand the impact MCC's development programs have had for the North Korean people.
