Florence City Council approves Sunday sales cereal malt beverage
Florence City Council unanimously approved ordinance 780 Monday allowing cereal malt beverage sales from noon until 8 p.m. Sundays. The ordinance was given approval by city attorney Marilyn Wilder. The public has 60 days to launch an official protest if it is not in agreement with the action.
In other business, the council:
— approved a "re-quote" on employee health insurance through Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The city will pay $126 for single employee coverage. Options to include dental and/or coverage for a child will be available, but the city will pay for coverage only up to the amount of a single employee.
— tabled for more information a request from Communities in Schools for an $800 donation.
— heard from Wagner that city employees have begun patching holes in city streets and still are working to finish picking up refuse from cleanup week. He also announced the new mower was delivered Friday.
— heard from Harper that new crossing arms will be installed on Main Street crossing over the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe tracks. Railroad officials told him installation would probably happen after fall harvest.
— scheduled work meetings for 10 a.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Monday.
