Football team remains undefeated

The Goessel High School football team has scored 110 points in two games and now boasts a record of 2-0.

In the first game of the season, Goessel defeated Wilson by a score of 40-0. The Bluebirds dominated the first quarter with 30 points, added a safety in the second quarter, and another touchdown in the third quarter to chalk up a first game victory.

Many of the underclassmen finished the game for the Bluebirds and continued to hold Wilson scoreless.

Ben Schmidt had three touchdowns; Dylan Buller scored one TD; and Aaron Stehman ran a kickoff in the second half back for a score. Extra points were scored by Schmidt, Buller, Stehman, and Tyler Huntley.

On Sept. 13, Goessel traveled to Chase and was tested by a passing attack. The Bluebirds got ahead 16-0, but Chase then scored three touchdowns on pass plays, taking the lead 18-16.

By the end of the first quarter, Goessel had a lead of 24-18. The Bluebirds allowed Chase only one more touchdown and ended the game in the third quarter, as they coasted to a 70-24 win.

Scoring touchdowns for the Bluebirds were Buller with three, B. Schmidt with four, Matt Froese one, and Huntley one. Extra points were converted by Schmidt, one; Froese, two; Huntley, one; Buller, one; and Stehman, three.
