Four BOE spots up for election in spring
The deadline is January 21 to file for four open positions on the USD 410 Board of Education.
Positions held by Debbie Geis, Brenda Enns, Cal Jost, and Reg Matz are all set to expire on June 30, 2003, at the end of this school year.
Geis represents District 1, which is a rural area that encompasses Durham, Logan Township, and Moore Township. Enns represents rural District 2, which includes Lehigh and Risley Township. This section extends from 250th Road on the north to 190th on the south.
Jost's region, District 3, includes the Gale Township area east of Hillsboro as well as the Liberty and East Branch townships south of Hillsboro. Matz's position, as the District 7 representative, is an at-large position, meaning it doesn't represent a specific area within the USD 410 boundaries.
Those interested in running for a school board seat must file their request with the county. If more than two candidates file for one position, a primary election will be held on Feb. 25. Otherwise, the regular election is April 25.
Only those living inside the boundaries of Districts 1, 2, and 3 may vote in the election. However, any registered voter inside the USD 410 district may vote for the District 7 seat, since it's an at-large position.
