Gardner, Miller named KCAC coaches of year
The 2004 all-conference football teams of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference have been named by the 10 head coaches.
Head coach Mike Gardner of the Tabor College Bluejays was named co-coach-of-the-year, along with Andy Lambert of Sterling College. Assistant Bluejay coach Dustin Miller was named KCAC assistant coach-of-the-year.
Brian Kimsey was named co-player-of-the-year for special teams.
Bluejays named to the first team offense include Ricky Ishida, sophomore from Shafter, Calif., quarterback; Roger Butler, junior from Hanford, Calif., running back; and Grant Myers, sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif., lineman.
Named to the defensive first team were C.J. Hill, senior from Hillsboro, defensive back; Jake Schenk, junior from Smith Center, linebacker; and John Ohm, junior from Red Bluff, Calif., defensive lineman.
Second team offense all-conference includes Layne Frick, junior from Durham, wide receiver; Cody Dick, sophomore from Buhler, lineman; and James Pizano, junior from Bakersfield, Calif., lineman.
Named to the honorable mention all-conference team were Ben Brown, running back; Andy Curtis, offensive lineman; Brian Durowaiye, linebacker; Bobby Hurd, offensive lineman; Tyler McKim, linebacker; Tim Stevens, defensive back; and Ted Telemaque, running back.
Kimsey named KCAC player of the week
Brian Kimsey, Tabor College junior from Golf River, Calif., was named KCAC player of the week for special teams. Kimsey, a 6-1, 215, punter, kicked eight punts with an average of 41 yards per punt, with three punts inside the 20-yard line.
