George J. Endres, 88, of Goessel, died Jan. 25, 2008.
He was born and raised at Newton. He served in the U.S. Army as a member of the last cavalry division.
After World War II, he joined his wife's family business, Norton's Memorials, where he became a well-known granite-cutter and designer until his retirement and closure of the business.
Survivors include his wife, Bette of Newton; son, Jay Endres of Redwood City, Calif.; sister, Mary McQuarie of Santa Fe, N.M.; two half-sisters, Alice Smith of Wichita and Carolyn Davidson of Decatur, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Hesston, with Peter Hartman officiating.
A memorial fund has been established with Bethesda Home, Goessel.
