GHS golf: Two medal at Marion

The Goessel High School varsity golf team played at Marion April 29 and came home with second place.
Two Bluebird golfers brought home individual medals.
Senior Nathan Ensz earned a third-place medal with a round of 80, and senior Cameron Voth came home with the seventh-place medal, shooting 85.
Hayden Goerzen dropped in an 89, Tyler Schmidt and Derek Brown each shot 92, and Jake Schrag came in with a 99.
The junior varsity team played April 29 at Halstead and earned sixth place as a team.
Neal Brubaker led the team with a low round of 97.
Austin Voth and Chad Wedel each shot 106, Sam Lehrman came in at 109, Bryant Miller shot 111, and Jake Smucker scored 121.
Marion County Invitational
GHS took fifth out of 14 schools Friday in the 36-hole Marion County Invitational.
The tournament took place at Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course and Marion Country Club.
Goertzen led the team with a round of 85 at Hillsboro and 90 at Marion, for a total of 175.
He was 16th overall out of 83 golfers.
Ensz wasn't far behind, finishing 19th with a two-round total of 176.
His round of 80 at Marion gave him a sixth-place medal.
Schmidt shot 88-91, Brown 95-99, and Schrag 102-99.
