GHS qualifies 29 musicians for state festival years ago
Goessel High School musicians participated in the 2006 Regional Solo/Ensemble Music Festival this past weekend at Tabor College, Hillsboro.
The group qualified 29 entries for the KSHSAA State 1A Solo/Ensemble Music Festival to be held April 29 at Wichita.
Those students or groups earning the top rating of I or Superior were brass choir, girls' vocal ensemble I, flute ensemble, clarinet quartet, Elbiata Singers, saxophone trio, and boys' vocal ensemble.
Thomas Murphy, Adam Goering, and Kyle Unruh, trumpet; Amy Brubaker and Janessa Wedel, clarinet; Allison Banman, Austin Unruh, Brianna Unrau, Kyle Unruh, Nate Amstutz, Janessa Wedel, Brittany Voth, Evan Fast, Cameron Voth, Kellen Jenkins, Ryan Goertzen, vocal; Jared Unrau, tuba; Kristin Unruh and Joylin Hall, flute; Chris Johnston and Scott Ferguson, tenor saxophone; and Evan Fast, alto saxophone.
Those students earning a II or Excellent rating were Joylin Hall, Sara Sebring, Krysta Yutzy, Scott Ferguson, and Kory Hiebert, vocal; James Goerzen, trumpet; and Chrystiana Voth and Laura Unruh, clarinet.
The students are under the instruction of choir director, Greg Bontrager and band director, Bud Meisel.
