GHS sends five to state music honor groups
Goessel High School placed one student in the 2005 all-state Kansas Music Educators Association band. Junior Kyle Unruh, chosen for the second consecutive year, was selected as 4th chair trumpet for the statewide group.
Selected for the statewide honor choir were sophomore Nathan Amstutz, bass 2; juniors Brady Peters, bass 1 and Kellen Jenkins, tenor 2; and senior Zach Plenert, bass 1.
The five students were chosen in live auditions from more than 6,000 high school students who had auditioned for the highest achievement any high school student can attain in music. They represent the most outstanding young musicians in the state of Kansas.
This year's concert will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 26 at Wichita's Century II Convention Center.
Goessel music students are under the direction of band director Bud Meisel and vocal director Greg Bontrager.
