GHS sends two to state music honor groups

Goessel High School has placed one student in the 2003 All-State KMEA Band. Senior Kelcy Voth was selected as first chair trumpet player for the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) State-Wide Honor Group. Selected for the State Honor Choir was junior John Wiens, tenor 2.

They were chosen from over 3500 high school students who auditioned for the highest achievement any high school student can attain in music. These students represent the most outstanding young musicians in the state of Kansas.

Kelcy Voth was selected for his third straight year and will be a recipient of the KMEA Gold Medallion at this year's concert which will be at 3 p.m. March 1 in Wichita's Century II Convention Center.

Goessel music students are under the direction of band director Bud Meisel and vocal director Greg Bontrager.
