GHS students honored for artwork

Goessel High School senior Korrie Bennett and sophomore Jason Hall had their artwork accepted into the State Scholastic Art Center contest held at the Wichita Center for the Arts.

Hall placed in the honorable mention division. Both students did CD covers in the graphic design category. They are enrolled in the new graphic design class at the high school.

"This is an extremely elite contest with all classes, with over 1,600 entries judged," art and photography instructor Brian Stucky said. "There were only 327 high school artworks selected for the show."

Stucky said that Bennett and Hall's artwork were the only pieces selected from Marion County. Only one other piece from an HOA league school was accepted, and only three pieces from Class 1A schools were accepted.

"We are very proud of Korrie, Jason, and the others who participated," he said.

The exhibit will be on display through Feb. 29 in Wichita.
