Goal Getters meet

The Goessel Goal Getters 4-H Club met on Feb. 9 at the Goessel Elementary School. Continuing the theme of "4-H Takes You Places," members answered roll call with a word or phrase from another language. Boarding at Communication Station, the members also took an imaginary trip stopping at points such as Demonstration Hill and Poster Valley to learn tips for making presentations.

Classes from the club's judging contest on Jan. 25 were reviewed and the winners recognized. The top five judgers were as follows: Junior division — Chad Wedel, first place, Paige Booton, second place, Jacob Smucker third place; Jennifer Tucker, fourth place, and Laird Goertzen, fifth place. Senior division — Grady Stultz, first place, Anthony Esau, second place, J.D. Tippin, third place, Kristin Unruh, fourth place, and Evan Esau, fifth place.

Scott Ferguson presented a new design for a club T-shirt. Twenty-eight members will participate in the Marion County 4-H Club Day on Feb. 22 at Hillsboro Middle School. The club will have an ice skating and pizza party on March 30.

Karis Janzen started the program by playing "Fere Jacques" on her drum as the club sang along. Chad Wedel presented a talk "tool time" about the basic tools needed for woodworking, and Veronica Powers demonstrated how to crochet a chain stitch.
