Goessel boys can t recover from early deficit
Goessel hosted Peabody on Friday and the home team struggled to get the ball through the hoop in the first three quarters.
The Peabody boys put together an 18-0 run to jump ahead in the game and led 29-11 at half time. Goessel outscored the Warriors 17-6 in the fourth quarter, but a 26-point deficit was too much to overcome as the 49-36 final indicated.
Senior Ryan Janzen led the home team with 12 points, Tyler Schroeder added eight, Travis Buller six, Garrett Hiebert and Jordan Voth each had three, and Jake Meeks and Justin Fensky added two points apiece.
The boys will play in the Canton-Galva tournament on Monday against Ell Saline, and then again on Thursday and Friday.
On Tuesday, Jan 11, the Bluebird boys lost to Remington 56-44 in a close contest.
"We stayed close into the fourth quarter, but things slipped away from us at the end of the game," said Coach Justin Coup.
Janzen again led the way with 15 points, Buller 10, Voth popped in six, Meeks added five, Hiebert four, Fensky two and Nathan Ensz and Brett Goerzen made one point each.
