Goessel boys finish week 3-0

With a 16-8 lead, the Bluebirds scored 17 straight points Dec. 4 and coasted the rest of the game against the Elyria Christian Eagles.

The Bluebirds led at the quarters 28-8, 46-15, and 58-21, with a final score of 69-24.

Goessel was led in scoring by junior Austin Unruh with 27 points.

Weston Hiebert knocked in 16 and Nathan Ensz dropped in 10 points.

Kendall Voth had five points, and Craig Banman four.

Rounding out the scoring for the Bluebirds were Sam Lehrman, Kurtis Duerksen, and Seth Ott each with two points, and Travis Fensky earned one point.

"It was good to see nine guys contribute to the scoring," coach Justin Coup said.

Goessel 69, Veritas Christian 34

Friday the Bluebirds fell behind 4-0 to Veritas Christian, but Voth scored five straight points and Goessel began to roll.

The Bluebirds scored 21 straight points to blow the game wide open, and took a 41-10 lead into the half time break.

Both teams scored 14 points in the third quarter and Goessel finished the game, winning by a final score of 69-34.

Hiebert made seven of eight free throws on his way to a game high 17 points.

Unruh finished with 10 points, Cameron Voth eight, Kendall Voth seven, Banman seven, Nathan Ensz six, Ott six, Lehrman four, and Kurtis Duerksen and Stefen Henkel two.
