Hutch Trinity came to town for high school basketball on Tuesday and left with a 50-55 victory.

The Bluebird boys trailed 11-12 at the end of the first quarter but then rattled off 25 points in the second quarter to take a 36-20 lead at half time. Travis Buller connected for 14 points in the explosive second quarter.

The Celtics began cutting into Goessel's lead after half time, and the Bluebirds led 46-39 at the third quarter break.

But the Bluebird offense could only score four points in the fourth quarter and the large lead turned into a loss as Trinity finished the game 55-50.

Trinity was 10 of 12 from the free throw line in the second half, while Goessel went to the line one time in the whole game.

Buller ended the game with five three-pointers for a total of 17 points, Tyler Schroeder tossed in 10, Ryan Janzen seven, Jordan Voth five, Justin Fensky four, Brett Goerzen three, Garrett Hiebert and Jake Meeks two points each.

Goessel traveled to Sedgwick for the Friday night game and saw the Cardinals jump out to six-point lead at the end of the first quarter and the Bluebirds could not get the momentum to catch up, losing 50-37.

Buller scored a couple of three pointers in the first quarter, and the Bluebirds made a charge after half time, but the deficit was too large to overcome.

Goessel trailed at the end of each quarter 10-16, 18-32, 31-38 and lost by a score of 37-50.

Scoring for the Bluebirds: Buller 13, Hiebert nine, Janzen four, Justin Fensky three, and two points each for Goerzen, Voth, Meeks, and Schroeder.
