Goessel boys lose three games this week

Goessel 35 Ell Saline 42

The Goessel boys got behind early in the game and tried to come from behind trailing by only three points at half-time. Ell Saline outscored the Bluebirds 13-7 in the third quarter and then held on to defeat the Bluebirds 42-35. This loss put the Bluebirds in the losers bracket at the Canton-Galva Tournament.

Ryan Janzen scored 12 points; Jordan Voth, seven; Garrett Hiebert, six; Justin Fensky, five; Travis Buller, three; and Tyler Schroeder, two.

Goessel 52 Canton-Galva 53 (OT)

In the second round game of the Canton Galva Tournament, Goessel fell behind the host school by 11 points at half-time and trailed by 13 points with one quarter to play. The Bluebirds then went on a tear, holding the Eagles to only eight points and tying the game at the end of regulation 49-49. Canton Galva was able to win the game in overtime by one point, 53-52.

Buller scored 13 points; Jordan Voth, 10; Garrett Hiebert nine; Ryan Janzen seven; Tyler Schroeder, five; Justin Fensky, four; and Brett Goerzen, four.

Goessel 42 Remington 52

In the final game of the tournament, Goessel got smacked in the third quarter when Remington tallied 26 points. The Bluebirds held a five-point lead at the half but could not regain their composure soon enough to cut into the deficit, losing 52-42.

Janzen scored 15 points; Hiebert, eight; Voth, eight; Schroeder, six; Buller, three; and Fensky, two.
