Goessel citizens troubled about traffic

The Goessel City Council heard about problems existing on A and B roads in Goessel at its regular monthly meeting. Several citizens who live on A Road attended the meeting to voice their concerns about the increased truck traffic on the road. Trucks, unable to maneuver the corner of A and B, turn around, creating ruts on private property. Drainage problems and maintenance problems on the two roads were also discussed.

The council approved accepting amendments to Building Ordinance #187. There will be a three-business- days waiting period after a person applies for a building permit. There will also be a basic fee of $10 plus a $15 inspection fee at the time of submitting a permit plus any additional square footage charges as listed in the ordinance.

The council voted 4-0 to deny a request for a privacy fence to be erected on the south property line of the civic center parking lot.

The council approved 4-0 Ordinance #188 concerning the franchise agreement with Moundridge Telephone Company.

The software support contract with Micro Custom Works for technical support for the accounting and payroll modules of the software were renewed for one year.

The council approved continuing the health insurance with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. The premiums have increased by $105. 59 a month.
