Goessel competes at Hillsboro meet

The Goessel High School track team competed Tuesday at the Hillsboro meet at Reimer field on the Tabor College campus.

Teams competing were Goessel, Hillsboro, Burrton, Inman, and Peabody-Burns.

The Goessel boys' placed fourth and the girls' placed fifth.

Highlights of the boys' division included Justin Fensky, who placed second in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 10 1/4 inches and third in the triple jump with a jump of 40-6.75.

In the high jump, Jake Unruh placed second with a 5-10 jump, followed by E. Fast with a 5-10 jump for third, and K. Bennett was fourth with a 5-8 jump.

Ben Goering placed third in the pole vault with a 12-0 leap over the bar. Garrett Hiebert placed fourth in javelin with a throw of 148-7.

The 4x800-meter relay team placed second with a time of 9:36.

In the girls' division, Goessel placed fifth.

Tricia Fensky placed second in long jump with a jump of 13-1.75 and fourth in pole vault with a leap of 7-0 clearing the bar.

Jenessa Wedel placed fourth in triple jump with a jump of 29-5.25 and fourth in the 1600m run with a time of 6:31.

Courtney Berkholz placed third in the high jump with a 4-2 jump, fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.57, and third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.06.

Kylee Nikkel placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 29-9. Brianna Unrau placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.16 and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 60.70.

Fensky led the Goessel boys with individual points, earning first in the long jump with a 19-0.75 jump and second in triple jump with a 39-11.5 leap.

Chad Schrag finished second in long jump with a 18-9.25 jump and fourth in the 400-meter dash with a 54.5 time.

Tyler Schroeder earned a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 40-10.5 and fifth in discus with a throw of 104-9.

Eric Urzowski finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.70.

Hiebert finished fourth in triple jump with a 37-4.5 jump and in javelin with a 148-5 throw. Unruh placed fifth in high jump with a leap of 5-6. Tanner Dickerson placed fourth in long jump with a 17-7.5 jump.

The 4x400-meter relay team placed third with a time of 3:53.00 and the 4x800-meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 10:04.00.

The boys finished fourth ahead of Halstead in the five-team track meet.

The small girls' team managed a second and third place from Nikkel in discus with a throw of 89-7.75 and shot put with a throw of 28-9, respectively.

Fensky pulled in a second place in long jump with 13-9.5 jump, Unrau got fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles with times of 62.80 and 21.10, respectively.

Wedel earned a fourth place in 800-meter run with a time of 2:50.00 and the 4x100-meter relay team finished in fourth with a time of 63.00.
