Goessel earns 26 I ratings at state music years ago
Not too bad for a 1A school.

GHS had 31 entries in the solos and small groups section and brought home 26 "one" ratings and five "two" ratings.

According to band director Bud Meisel, "One of the secrets of Goessel's success is that we try to involve many students in solos and ensembles. This makes our band and choir stronger musically than most schools our size."
Hillsboro High School sent several band members to McPherson. Ten students earned one ratings: Caleb Dirks, Shane Ball, Ryan Fields, Kelli Just, Heather Stepanek, Stephanie King, Ben Walker, Chad Hughbanks, Daniel Wiebe, and Mandy Ratzloff.
HHS vocalists also attended the event. The following students who competed in the solo division received one ratings: Angie Claassen, Katie Baltzer, Jordan Allen, Kelli Just, and Laura Lindsay. Students receiving two ratings included Danielle Kelley, Kyle Kroeker, Heather Stepanek, Emily Ratzlaff, and Mandy Ratzloff.
The Spirit-N-Celebration group received a one rating.
SNC also traveled to Kansas City to compete in the Festival of Choirs held at Worlds of Fun the next day. The group won the trophy for the best choir in Class AA and a one-rating plaque.
"Out students peaked at the right time," said director David Clark. "I believe this was the best performance that our students have had at this event. One judge encouraged the group to submit a tape to the American Choral Directors Association Convention for performance."
