Goessel FFA members hold auction, chili supper
The Goessel FFA held their third Annual Chili Supper and Work Auction on Feb. 6, 2003, in the high school cafeteria. Van Schmidt donated his auctioneering talents to auction off the 35 FFA members.
It was open for anybody that wanted to come and buy workers or just wanted some good chili to eat. The menu consisted of all-you-can-can-eat chili and cinnamon rolls with tea or water. The food was free, but many community members made donations.
The students brought anywhere from $30 to $137.50 for four hours of work with Taylor Schmidt bringing the top price. Schmidt was purchased by someone he has worked for the previous two years. Community members plan to have students cut wood, help out on a farm, paint and even remodel.
The FFA Chili Supper and Work Auction raised over $2,000 for the chapter. The FFA will use the money for State and National Convention, awards, and chapter activities. It turned out to be a fun and successful night.
