Goessel High School played host April 1 to a CKTL track meet. The weather cooperated with a cool breeze but no storms.
The Bluebirds competed well in the first meet, scoring 71 points from a team of eight girls. GHS was competing against 3A Halstead, and 2A schools Fairfield and Peabody-Burns.
Halstead dominated the meet with 159 points, Fairfield scored 71, and Goessel used the last event of the evening to move past Peabody 51-48.
The Bluebirds put two relay teams on the track this year and picked up first-place medals in both events.
Aspen Frey earned firsts in the 800 and 1600-meter runs, while Kendra Flaming picked up another first place in the 400m dash.
Karina Harvey brought in six points with a second-place finish in the 800m run, Amy Brubaker and Shianne DeFreese earned important points in the triple jump and discus.
