Goessel girls finish ninth at league meet
In the varsity Heart of America League meet Friday several members of the Goessel High School girls' track and field team set personal records.
Amy Burbaker and Shanna Klassen each bettered their previous best in the triple jump.
The 4x800m relay team improved by eight seconds on its season's best, and Kristen Hoffman seems to be peaking as she set her best time of the season in the 3200m run, earning sixth place.
Earning points for the Bluebirds were Aspen Frey with a fourth-place finish in the 1600, a sixth-place finish for Kendra Flaming in the 400m dash, and a sixth-place finish for the 4x800m relay team.
Coaches hope that nagging injuries will heal as the Bluebirds head Friday to Madison for a 1A regional meet.
The top four finishers in each event earn a spot May 23-24 at the state track meet in Wichita.
