Goessel girls pick up league win
Goessel High School girls got a quick start Friday with an important league win against the Little River Redskins.
They jumped out to a 16-7 first quarter lead and held off the Redskins for a 47-36 win.
The Bluebirds were led in scoring by Rinda Duerksen with 19, Kory Hiebert followed with 14, Trenae Wilson scored six, Aspen Frey four, and Katie Flaming and Courtney Berkholz, two each.
This win gives the Bluebirds a 3-3 record in the Heart of America League and a 5-6 record overall.
Goessel girls will be in the Eli Walter Tournament at Berean this week.
The girls played Monday against Peabody-Burns. They will play again Thursday and Saturday.
