Goessel girls post win over Peabody-Burns
The Goessel girls slammed the door on any chance for Peabody to win their basketball game on Friday. The Bluebirds jumped out to a 13-1 lead in the second quarter. An eight-point deficit would be as close as the Warriors would get early in the third quarter and then the Bluebirds would extend the lead to 35-21 and coasted to a 46-28 victory.
Courtney Berkholz led all scorers with 16 points, (14 in the first half) and Kory Hiebert banked in 14 points, (all in the second half). Candice Bailey added eight points,
Trenae Wilson scored four, Katie Flaming and Linessa Duerksen added two points each.
Goessel is now 5-4 overall and the girls will play at Moundridge next week Tuesday.
Goessel had balanced scoring against the Remington girls on Tuesday, but there just was not enough scoring to keep the game close.
The Bluebirds slipped behind 26-10 at half time and lost 53-34.
Pacing the Bluebirds were Berkholz with nine, Hiebert with eight, and Bailey with seven.
