Despite rainy conditions the day before, Hesston was able to host a CKTL meet April 8 in cold temperatures.
"The Goessel girls competed well despite their small numbers," coach Curtis Guhr said.
Hesston, a 4A school, dominated the girls' events with 3A Halstead and Hillsboro picking up second and third places respectively.
Class 2A Berean Academy took fourth and Goessel, the only 1A school at the meet, was fifth.
Aspen Frey sparkled in the 1600-meter run as she ran shoulder to shoulder with a Hillsboro runner for three laps.
She then took the lead for good on the final lap, coasting to victory.
Frey and Karina Harvey each scored points in the 800m run.
Kristen Hoffman, Goessel's long-distance threat, picked up a second-place medal in the 3200m race, and freshman Kendra Flaming scored points in the 400m dash.
