Goessel library changes Internet policy
As a result of receiving new computers from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Goessel Public Library has implemented a new computer and Internet policy. This policy allows patrons for more freedom in computer usage. Patrons my bring in CDs or disks to use on the computers. Headphones are also provided for privacy. The Internet is faster with DSL thanks to Moundridge Telephone company.
All patrons who wish to use the computer must sign the library's new computer use policy after Sept. 30, 2002. To use the Internet, patrons between the ages of six and 18 must successfully complete an Online Safety quiz and have a parent or legal guardian sign as the responsible party. There are computer programs that children can use without the completion of the quiz.
The library will offer computer classes designed for the individual. The first class, Computer Basics for Seniors, will begin at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 with a limited enrollment of three. Other classes will be offered for teachers, young peopel, young families, etc.
Contact Laura Dailey, library director, to register or request a specific class emphasis.
