Goessel players picked for all-star game
Goessel High School senior football players Garrett Hiebert and Brett Goerzen have been selected to play for the Division I West squad in the 8-man All-Star game, to be played June 9 in Beloit.
Hiebert, a strong-armed quarterback and quick linebacker, led the Bluebirds to a 4-0 record in district play and a 8-2 season.
Goerzen, a speedy wide receiver, safety, and return specialist, was known for his broken-field running ability. Goerzen ran several kick off returns for touchdowns in his career.
Goerzen, of rural Newton, is the son of Michael Gorezen. Hiebert, of rural Canton, is the son of Myron and Ann Hiebert.
Kick-off for the game is 2 p.m.
