Goessel remembers 9-11 years ago
Students and staff of Goessel Jr./Sr. High School gathered in front of the school Wednesday to commemorate 9/11.
Also in attendance were people from the community, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and EMS personnel.
As the band played the national anthem, everyone's eyes were on the flag at half-mast.
A student led the group in a moment of silence.
The crowd applauded as tribute was paid to emergency workers and law enforcement officers.
As a finale, 63 balloons were launched, one for each baby which has been born since 9/11 to wives of husbands lost in the tragedy.
"We will always remember 9/11," said Principal Stuart Holmes.
A brief 15-minute program was held at Goessel Elementary School, in which the principal spoke to the students about the calamitous event.
The program ended with students singing a patriotic song.
