Goessel sends 22 to state music honor groups years ago
Goessel High School placed two students in the 2007 All-State KMEA Band.
Senior Janessa Wedel was selected as fifth chair clarinet player and sophomore Amy Brubaker for the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) Statewide Honor Band.
Six students selected for the State Honor Choir are seniors Kory Hiebert and Nathan Amstutz and juniors Katie Flaming, Ryan Goertzen, Joylin Hall, and Sara Sebring.
They were chosen from more than 4,200 high school students who had auditioned for the highest achievement any high school student can attain in music.
Nathan Amstutz was selected for his third straight year and will receive a gold medallion from KMEA for this outstanding accomplishment.
Five students were chosen from more than 730 taped auditions to be members of the first All-State Middle Level Chorus.
Selected for the 160-voice choir were freshmen, Andrew DeFreese, Jessica Goertzen, Karina Harvey, and Bryant Miller, and seventh grader D'Ambra Kruger.
Nine students were chosen from among 700 taped auditions to be members of the highly select 200-voice All State KCDA Honor Choir. They were freshmen Aspen Frey and Jamie Spoonemore, eighth graders Kendra Flaming, Raney Schroeder, and Michelle Unruh, seventh grader Aimee Flaming, and sixth graders Alex Hiebert, Jo Hoffman, and Davis Cook.
This year's concerts were held this past weekend at Century II Convention Center, Wichita.
