Goessel sends 24 to state music hon Anatomy of Gray years ago
Goessel High School has placed one student in the 2006 All-State KMEA Band.
Junior Janessa Wedel was selected as fifth-chair clarinet for the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) state-wide honor band.
Senior Kyle Unruh was selected as the first-chair trumpet in the state-wide honor orchestra.
Students selected for the State Honor Choir are juniors Kory Hiebert and Nathan Amstutz.
They were chosen from more than 4,200 high school students who had auditioned for the highest achievement any high school student can attain in music.
These students represent the most outstanding young musicians in the state of Kansas.
Kyle Unruh was selected for his third straight year and will receive a gold medallion from KMEA for this outstanding accomplishment.
This year's concert will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Century II Convention Center, Wichita.
Ten students were chosen from more than 550 taped auditions to be members of the first all-state middle level chorus.
They will perform at 4:40 p.m. Friday in Century II, MJT Little Theatre, Wichita.
Goessel students selected for the 160-voice choir are: Amy Brubaker, Laura Unruh, Chrystiana Voth, and Austin Unruh, ninth grade; Neal Brubaker, Caleb Makovec, Evan Hiebert, Bryant Miller, Andrew DeFreese, and Weston Hiebert, eighth grade.
Ten students were chosen from more than 600 taped auditions to be members of the highly select 200-voice all-state KCDA honor choir.
They will perform at 5:40 p.m. Friday in Century II Concert Hall, Wichita.
Students selected are: Rinda Duerksen and Kristin Unruh, ninth grade; Aspen Fry, Sierra Dirksen, Jamie Spoonemore, Jessica Goertzen, and Samantha Hines, eighth grade; Michelle Unruh, seventh grade; Braden Unruh and Aimee Flaming, sixth grade.
Goessel music students are under the direction of band director Bud Meisel and vocal director Greg Bontrager.
