Goessel volleyball team drops two matches

The Bluebird volleyball team traveled to Little River and suffered two defeats in league play. Against Sedgwick, Goessel lost 25-17, 25-22. The Bluebird's 6'0" duo of Ashley Ensz and Kory Hiebert each recorded five blocks. Coach Banman was rotating a lot of players in each game.

"I am slowly seeing improvement," said Banman.

The Bluebirds could not stay as close to Little River, as the Redskins won 25-18, 25-14.

Goessel will go to Berean on Oct. 7 to play Berean and Pretty Prairie. This match will end the regular season for Heart of America League standings.

On Oct. 14, Goessel will play at Peabody against the Warriors and Berean, but the game will not count in league standings.

The Bluebird record is now 3-8 in league play and 9-15 overall.

Set. 30 at Little River

Goessel competed at Little River on Sept. 30 against Sedgwick and Little River.

Goessel lost the first match against Sedgwick, 25-17, 25-22.

Ensz and Hiebert had five blocks each.

In the match against Little River, Goessel lost 25-18, 25-14.

"We did a lot more talking in this match," Banman said, "and that helped us get going."

"I am slowly seeing improvement," she said. "That's nice because so many kids are getting a lot of experience."

Ensz had 17 hits, and Brianna Unrau had 12.
