Goessel walkers raise money to eliminate world hunger

The Goessel area CROP walk took place last Sunday with 68 walkers participating. As the walkers were dismissed, the youngest took off in a sprint and the more mature walkers strolled at a steady pace. Most walkers completed the six-mile route south and west of town.
Denise Nickel, area coordinator, informed the group as they competed their walk that over $5,000 had been raised. Most of this money will go to help dig wells in communities that do not have a safe supply of drinking water. Many residents in foreign countries regularly walk miles to get water for the families. It is estimated that $250 will help dig one well.
