Golf squad starts season at Hillsboro

Beautiful weather greeted the golf team for the first two meets of this season. Goessel golfers participated at Herington on Thursday along with ten other schools and finished in sixth place as a team.

Among the fifty-eight golfers, Kelcy Voth and Kent Peters shot 93 for a tie for 25th place. Other scores for Goessel were: Tyler Huntley 104, Jeremy Voth 114, Dustin Spoonemore 117, and Jake Unruh 123.

The Hillsboro Invitational Golf Tournament involved ten schools and sixty golfers on Friday. Senior Kent Peters led the team with a 16th place finish and a score of 87. Other scores for Goessel were: K Voth 92, Huntley 98, J Voth 107, Kellen Jenkins 116 and Spoonemore 122.

"The team is gaining confidence. Golfers with little experience will get a chance to play at the varsity level this year," said coach Troy Kemling. "At many meets this year we will be competing with much larger schools."
