Golf tournament held Sept. 3-4

The Hillsboro Golf Association held the 29th annual men's senior and the 13th annual women's senior golf tournaments on Sept. 3 and 4.

Approximately 117 golfers participated in the two-day event with 98 players from out of town.

Jim Tedder of Chapman won the men's tournament with an 18-hole score of 73.

Ginger Martin of Hutchinson won the women's tournament with an 18-hole score of 86.

Men's results: Age 50-59 — First place, Stan Utting of Hillsboro, 75; second place, Ken Johnson of Hillsboro, 76; and third place, Craig Cooper of Elmdale, 79.

Age 55-59 — First place, Jim Brown of Strong City, 74; second place, Ed Thiessen of Hesston, 78; and third place, Mike Huntley of Newton, 81.

Age 60-64 — First place Ted Tedder of Chapman, 73; second place, Harold Oakleaf of Chapman, 77; and third place, Carl Long of Hillsboro, 79.

Age 65-69 — First place, Ted Wright of Wichita, 79; second place, Paul Pankratz of Hillsboro, 80; and third place, Don Hettinger of Chapman, 81.

Age 70-74 — First place, Bob Gaede of Newton, 77; second place, Bill Peace of El Dorado, 81; and third place, Jim Onken of McPherson, 88.

Age 75-79 — First place, Clay Hedrick of Newton, 78; second place, Clyde Olson of McPherson, 81; and third place, Marion Branum of Newton, 82.

Age 80 and up — First place, Blue Eastham of El Dorado, 83; second place, George Kuntz of Newton, 84; and third place, Tom Peterson of Newton, 88.

Women's results: Age 50-59 — First place, Linda Bustos of Herington, 92; second place, Linda Davis of Walton, 94; third place, Laura Bruce of McPherson, 108.

Age 60-64 — First place, Ginger Martin of Hutchinson, 86; second place, Mary Keefe of Abilene, 92; third place, Elaine Sears of Abilene, 93.

Age 65-69 — First place, Shirley Meysenburg of Abilene, 87; second place, Pat Schroeder of Wichita, 93; and third place, Jan Huitt of Wichita, 96.

Age 70-74 — First place, Sara Lomax of Wichita, 92; second place, Dorothy Lake of Salina, 97; and third place, Maurine Gaddis of McPherson, 98.

Age 75-79 — First place, Dorothy Hartman of Abilene, 95; second place, Wilma Bradley of Abilene, 99; and third place, Jean Lind of Hutchinson, 100.

Age 80 and up — First place, Marcella Bruce of Hillsboro, 128; and second place, Doris Arnold of Hillsboro, 129.
