Golfers head for Council Grove

Six Goessel High School golfers climbed the hills of the Council Grove Country Club as they played 18 holes of golf. Since it was a school holiday, coach Troy Kemling took a few freshmen members of this team to their first golf meet.

The hills at Council Grove prevented the golfers from seeing six of the nine greens from the tee box. Players hit the ball in the general direction they thought would lead to the green.

Goessel was led by senior Kent Peters with a steady 92, followed by improving junior Jeremy Voth with 107, Dustin Spoonemore 110, Kellen Jenkins 126, and in their first meet Evan Janzen 128 and Scott Ferguson 139.

The team will travel to Pretty Prairie Monday for another match.
