Goossen elected to national budget officers assn.
Duane Goossen, (R) from Goessel and Kansas Budget Director for the Kansas Legislature, was elected president-elect of the National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO). Goossen was elected at the close of the legislative session and the announcement was made by Governor Kathleen Sebelius.
"I am pleased that Duane has been elected to serve in a leadership role by his peers," said Sebelius. "His understanding of state programs and the numbers associated are a wonderful asset to Kansas. He is an essential part of this office and I am certain his knowledge will benefit many of his colleagues through his leadership position."
Goossen's term as president-elect begins in July 2004 and will become president in July 2005 to serve a one-year term.
NASBO serves budget officers in the 50 states, providing research, policy development, education, training, and technical assistance. It also monitors events on the federal level and provides a forum for budget directors to discuss common issues. It is an independent organization and is an affiliate of the National Governor's Association.
