Greetings from Florida and Georgia

This month's "For What It's Worth" comes from "Sunny Florida" where I'm visiting daughter and son-in-law Marcia and Glenn Wiederstein
Today, however, March 1, "Sunny Florida" is cold and cloudy with rain in the forecast. But, that did not keep us from throwing winter wear over night wear and dashing outside shortly after 6 a.m. to witness the launch of NASA's Columbia shuttle a hundred miles away. Intermittent clouds obscured our view somewhat, but we saw its brightness in the sky and the dazzling brilliance of its vapor trail as the rising sun shone on it.
Believe me, I'm not complaining about the weather during my stay because there have been beautiful days with plenty of sunshine, two days of much needed rain, cool nights, but the promise of 70-degrees-plus temperatures until my visit ends.
My hosts have kept things moving at a faster pace than I'm used to at home, but I'm enjoying it all. They met my flight in Atlanta, and we spent two days there visiting grandsons Martin and Blake and Blake's fiancee, Viviane Xavier, the latter two having just announced their engagement. After an overnight visit with Glenn's sister Janet in Macon, Georgia, we travelers headed for Florida and arrived at their home in Beverly Hills.
A real change of diet for me has been the inclusion of fish
A side trip to Tampa and St. Petersburg included seeing a stage production of "Saturday Night Fever" and an eleven and a half mile drive on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge across Tampa Bay.
I've been introduced to a new fruit called a bouton. It's a whopper that looks like a cross between a grapefruit and a lemon (the one we bought weighed close to two pounds) and has a mild taste.
If travel logs bore you, my apologies! Next month I'll probably be back into local or nostalgic stuff.
These weeks with my Georgia-Florida family have been and still are great. And soon I'll be back to my dear Sunflower State to spend some time with my Kansas family, son Skip and daughter-in-law Lois, in Pratt. Then it will be unpacking time at my much loved home in Hillsboro with a whole new bunch of memories!
