Hamm, Flaming, Winter clans hold reunions
Hamm reunion held at lake
The 18th annual Ed and Bertha (Hill) Hamm reunion was held June 15 at Marion County Lake Hall in Marion. Duane and Shirley Hamm of Hillsboro and family hosted the covered dish dinner.
Those attending were Wilbur and Florence Hett, Delbert and Carolyn Hamm, Carol Ollenburger, Larry and Ruth Hamm, Dennis Hamm, Ashley and Justin Friesen, Lonnie, Donna and Jason Hamm, Duane and Shirley Hamm, and Valorie, Austin, Justin, Madison and Chris Hamm, all of Hillsboro; Royce and Bonnie Saltzman of Lehigh; Heather and David Serviss of Arlington; Greg, Charlene, Dylan and Whitney Thiessen of McPherson; Clayton and Wanda Hamm of Marion; Sharon Schabel of El Dorado; Russ, Donna, Ryan and April Hamm of Canton; Shelly, Tori, Tayler and Turner Alderson of Abilene; Patrick and Tammie Arebalo of Wichita; Tom and Connie Jenkins of Emporia; Marvin and Joyce Hamm and Tim, Anita, Kylie, Ty, Cody and Lane Hamm of Wells.
Flaming family reunites July 4
An Independence Day picnic took place at the original Sam Flaming farm in route 2 Peabody.
Those present were Jim and Eulalia Flaming, Bill and Stanley of Hillsboro; Susie Flaming of Salina; Shirley, Clint, Jolene, Robin and David Esau of McPherson; Kevin, Cheryl, Ashley and Corey Brandt of Hillsboro; Rose and Ernie J. Voth of Buffalo Mills, Pa.; Elsie and Ken Schmidt of Newton; Ed and Shirley Flaming of Durham; Roger and Eric Zeller of Olathe; Orville, Johanna and Katrina Flaming of Weatherford, Okla.; Doug and Rita Janzen of Sedgwick; and Myron and Terrie Ens of Galva.
Conversation, food, anecdotes and family photos filled the afternoon and evening.
Karl and Minnie Winter progeny meet in Hillsboro
More than 100 descendants of the Karl and Minnie Winter family attended a reunion in the Hillsboro Scout House on Saturday, July 6, 2002. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren from Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Texas, and Pennsylvania were in attendance. They represented the Karl and Tina Winter, Henry and Pauline Hanneman, Peter A. and Marie Duerksen, John P. and Annie Winter, and Ed P. and Susie Winter families.
The Winter reunion is held once every five years in Hillsboro, where the family settled in 1902. Hosts for the event were Ron and Fran Duerksen of Lehigh, Becky Hanneman of Wichita, and Jim and Mary Regier of Hillsboro.
