Hap Dumont districts start Saturday at sports complex
Ten teams from across Kansas will come to town this weekend as Hillsboro hosts a district tournament from the National Baseball Congress Hap Dumont baseball league.
Games begin Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. They'll continue all afternoon, with one six-inning game played every two hours.
Games will also be played Sunday afternoon, beginning at noon, and Monday evening beginning at 6 p.m., said Bob Hein, state director for Hap Dumont baseball.
The tournament that Hillsboro is hosting will feature the 10-year-old division. There are two other district tournaments being held elsewhere in the state that weekend.
Hillsboro's evening Lions club has hosted a district tournament for years, Hein said. But no local teams are scheduled to play.
In the state of Kansas, there are 147 chartered Hap Dumont teams playing baseball this summer, Hein said.
The teams set to play this weekend include: Lawrence Mavericks, Wichita Diamondbacks, Wichita Red Sox, Wichita Jaguars, Sunflower West, Sunflower East, South Central Mulvane, Great Bend Yankees, Heights Titans, and McPherson Dodgers
