Harold Rhodes
Harold Lavonn Rhodes, 90, Montezuma, died Nov. 17, 2002, at Western Medical Complex in Dodge City.
Born March 15, 1912, at Tampa, he was the son of Harry Walter and Lillie Leora (Hegle) Rhodes.
On Dec. 27, 1936,at Durham, he married Mabel B. Mininger.
He was a farmer and carpenter and a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Montezuma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Dale, Preston, Jack, bob, Dean, and Carroll Rhodes, and three sisters, Ethel Trumble, Esther Rhodes, and Floreine Jantz.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel; sons, Lyle Rhodes and wife Mona of Montezuma, Stuart and wife Elaine of Scio, Ore., and Mark Rhodes and wife Glenda of Windsor, Colo.; daughters, Berdene Rhodes of Overland Park, Phyllis Koehn and husband Lavern of Montezuma, Crystal Koehn of Montezuma, Marilyn Fischer and husband Jim of Scott City; brother, Lowell "Shorty" Rhodes of Parsons; sisters, Joan Madsen of Hiawatha, and Geneva Brouhard and husband Jack of Andover; 22 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 20 at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Montezuma with ministers Donald Koehn, Cyrus Wedel and Lyndon Toews presiding. Burial was at the North Mennonite Cemetery.
