Hiebert, a junior, finished the 3.1-mile course in 19:08. He was followed by the senior trio of Kent Peters with a time of 19:35; Peter Goerzen, 19:55; and Jeremy Voth, 20:06. Evan Fast, a freshman, ran his first race at this distance and finished in 20:34.
The girls ran the two-mile loop in the 77 degree temperatures, and their times improved from the hot race a week ago. Jennifer Schmidt finished in 14:25; Lenessa Duerksen, 14:58; and Theresia Hoelzl, 16:04.
Goessel travels today to Leon to run at Bluestem High School.
