Harriers take eighth at regionals
What was anticipated to be the last meet of the cross country season for the Goessel team ended with an eighth- place finish for the boys. Jennifer Schmidt finished the season with her fastest time of the year, just missing a medal.
Schmidt, a freshman, ran the two-mile course in 13:47, several seconds faster than her previous best. Seniors Peter Goerzen and Kent Peters stayed together for the whole race finishing 20:04 and 20:06 respectively.
Freshman Evan Fast remained close with a time of 20:15; Lance Hiebert, junior, ran the course in 20:30; and senior Jeremy Voth finished the 3.1 miles in 21:17.
"I asked the runners to give it their all," said coach Bontrager.
"The freshmen really improved during the year. The upper classmen had a great attitude and were fun to work with."
