Harriet Wiebe
Harriet Wiebe, 82, died Sept. 10, 2006, in Omaha, Neb. She was recovering from heart surgery.
Born Jan. 17, 1924, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Harry and Marie Kizler.
She graduated in 1941 from Hillsboro High School and was class valedictorian.
On Dec. 25, 1942, she married John Allen Wiebe at her parent's home in Hillsboro. It was the only day Boeing Airplane Company would excuse John from his wartime assignment. Gasoline rationing limited the wedding ceremony to eight guests.
Harry founded and operated Kansas Wholesale Company on Hillsboro's Main Street for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son John Allen Wiebe Jr., and sister Aldene Roark.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Roxanne Wiebe, Barbara Wright, and Janette Charbonneau; sister, Bernice Bartel; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Sept. 13, at Pacific Hills Lutheran Church in Omaha. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha.
