Harry Thye

Harry Thye, 86, of Hillsboro, died June 7, 2004, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Born Aug. 13, 1917, in rural Hillsboro, he was the son of George and Marie (Mohlman) Thye. On Aug. 25, 1942, he married Josephine Groening in Hillsboro. She survives.

He was a city mail carrier for 33 years and a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Rudy Thye and sisters, Mathilda Hauck, Elizabeth Christensen, and Edna Forrest.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine of Hillsboro; son, Larry of Hot Springs, Ark.; daughters, Connie Burnham of English, Ind., and Judy Pelot of Leesburg, Fla.; brother, George Thye; sisters, Martha Schroeder and Janet Keazer; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. R. Laney Kuhn officiating. Burial will be at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel.

A memorial has been established at Hillsboro United Methodist Church.
