Head to the polls

t's election time again.

The spring political season kicks off next Tuesday, when local voters will head for the polls for this season's primary vote.

There are only two primaries set to take place in Marion County this spring — just two positions where more than two people filed for the spot.

In Florence they'll be narrowing the mayoral field down to two. Here in Hillsboro, we'll be narrowing the District 7 school board choices down to two.

District 7 is the at-large position of the USD 410 board of education — meaning it encompasses the entire school district. Other districts deal with specific geographical sections of the district, but District 7 represents every single one of us.

Of course, we all know that we should get out and vote, no matter the election. But since this primary concerns Hillsboro schools, it should be extra important to the community.

Hillsboro schools are among the top schools in Kansas. And behind every good school is good leadership.

Now's the time to pick those leaders.

So study the issues. Talk to the men running for the spot — Kevin Suderman, Rod Koons, and Gary Andrews. Make your decision.

And vote on Tuesday.
