HHS, GHS compete at state golf
Freshman Daniel Kunantaev was the top Hillsboro golfer Monday at the 3A state championship round at Cheney with an 18-hole, 76.
Goessel High School's Zach Frey led the Bluebirds at the 1A state meet at Hesston shooting 84 and taking 10th place.
Elliot Soyez followed Kunantaev with an 77, Justin Kent shot 81, and Darren Enns 94 to round out the four-man group. Their total of 328 tied for third with Sabetha and Marion. The team took fifth on a tie-break.
Daniel Dick, 98, and Zach Magnuson, 105, competed as well.
Nathan Ensz was the next best golfer for GHS with an 89.
Marion High School senior and defending champion Travis Hett was second at Cheney, three strokes behind Trinity's Michael Allen.
