Hillsboro High School girls' tennis team traveled Thursday to Wichita Collegiate.
The meet originally scheduled for Sept. 6 was postponed until Thursday, due to rain.
Eight teams participated in the meet: Wichita East, Wellington, Neodesha, Wichita Independent, Hillsboro, Winfield, Wichita Collegiate Blue and Wichita Collegiate Gold.
In number one singles, Becky Faber won her first match against Wichita Independent 8-1, but fell to her Wichita East opponent, 8-0.
Faber competed for third, but lost 8-5 and took fourth place.
Amber Loewen, playing number two singles, also finished fourth at the meet.
Loewen, like her fellow teammate, won her first match, 8-1.
Next, Loewen competed against an opponent from Wichita Collegiate Blue, falling 8-3.
She then fell 8-4 in the third-place match.
Hillsboro's Greta Wiebe and Lauren Just finished seventh in the tournament after falling to Wichita Collegiate Blue and Neodesha.
Playing for seventh, the girls faced a duo from Wichita Collegiate's gold team.
Wiebe and Just triumphed in a close match, finishing 8-6.
Number two doubles partners Maria Loewen and Anna Woelk started their day against Winfield.
They fell in the first round 8-5, but in the next round they took the victory from Neodesha, 8-3.
This placed the girls in position to seize a fifth-place finish. Unfortunately, Loewen and Woelk fell to Wellington, taking sixth place.
Overall, the team earned 11 points and finished fifth.
